The Subcommittee on Aviation will hold a hearing tomorrow morning to review the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) safety oversight of the United States’ aviation system.
ALPA First Vice President Sean Cassidy will testify before the Subcommittee. The hearing will address aviation safety issues to include operational errors, pilot fatigue and pilot training requirements, safety management systems, oversight of repair stations, and terminal area safety.
The hearing comes just a week after ALPA helped introduce the “Safe Skies Act of 2012,” which will require cargo carriers to comply with newly issued pilot fatigue rules. All ALPA members are encouraged to contact their representatives in support of the Safe Skies Act here.
The hearing is open to the public and will be webcast- more details are available on the Committee’s website.
