Lithium Batteries: Strong Support for ALPA Position on Lithium Batteries Voiced by AFL-CIO

ALPA has long advocated for improved transport requirements for lithium batteries aboard aircraft as cargo.  The FAA Reauthorization Act, enacted this February, included a provision that allows DOT to strengthen regulations of lithium batteries to harmonize with recently improved international standards adopted by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).  The comments submitted by the Transportation Trades Department, AFL-CIO (TTD) support our goal of achieving a higher level of air safety with regard to the carriage of lithium batteries.  See TTD’s full statement here.
