ALPA has long pushed for advancing the adoption of Next Gen air traffic control upgrades, which will increase safety and promote efficiency and capacity growth. The passage of the FAA bill this year was critical in allowing the agency to plan and move forward with the execution of NextGen.

“…Innovation and technology are advancing at a rate faster than any previous generation thought possible. We now live in a world whose aviation technology needs are light-years ahead of those in which our current systems were first implemented. The landscape has changed, and our aviation technology must change with it if we are to address the aviation challenges of tomorrow – not only for the airlines and the air travel market, but for the traveling consumer as well. The technology is there, in the form of what the FAA calls the Next Generation Air Transportation System, or NextGen.”
