FAA should focus on safety, not privacy, in UAS/UAV integration

ALPA joined a coalition of aviation interests in writing the FAA to reiterate airspace coordination and safety as unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) are integrated into the national airspace.   The FAA is currently engaged in multiple programs to integrate UAS.  In pursuing these efforts ALPA believes the agency must remain focused on safety issues rather than privacy issues – an area where the agency has no technical expertise or jurisdiction.  ALPA has provided several recommendations on UAS integration, safety, and certification, and will continue to participate in the FAA’s efforts to develop new rules and regulations governing UAS.
