ALPA President Lee Moak wrote Senate Leaders Reid and McConnell today urging them to schedule a vote to confirm Michael Heurta as Administrator of the FAA. Huerta currently serves as Acting Administrator of the agency, and ALPA has witnessed and benefited from his leadership, professionalism and dedication to service.
In his letter Captain Moak stated, “In the nearly two years since Acting Administrator Heurta joined the FAA, we have worked with him regularly on issues large and small. His keen intellect and attention to all aspects of our aviation system have served this country well. He has been at the helm of the FAA during an unprecedented period of safety in our industry and understands the need to remain vigilant in our obligation to safe air travel…The aviation industry continues to face myriad challenges. Steady, long-term leadership is critical as the agency navigates the growing demands on the largest aerospace system in the world. Michael Heurta is the right person for the job and we urge the Senate to confirm him expeditiously.”
