Captain Moak Urges Support For Safe Skies Act of 2013

Today, ALPA President Lee Moak sent a letter to the House of Representatives urging support for the Safe Skies Act of 2013 (H.R. 182).  Representative’s Grimm (R-NY) and Bishop (D-NY) have reintroduced the legislation for consideration by the 113th Congress.  The bipartisan bill will close the “cargo carve-out” and ensure that updated fatigue regulations are applied uniformly to all pilots who fly in our skies.  Cargo pilots fly the safe routes, in the same airspace, and into the same airports as passenger airlines and subjecting them to a different set of rest rules puts overall aviation safety at risk.  ALPA remains committed to achieving One Level of Safety for all pilots, regardless of payload or flight mission.  Read Captain Moak’s letter here.
